Top Best Seasons on Netflix

Wednesday (2022, Horror) – Renewed for Season 2

There is only one Wednesday we like and that is the not-so-lovely Wednesday Adams. Ranking high among the top seasons on Netflix, it comes as no surprise that Wednesday is the brainchild of the legendary director, Tim Burton. The macabre and Hammer horror and the dark sense of humor in the series scream Tim Burton. Just like his other words, Wednesday also garnered much fame and quickly became a household name.

Featuring only 8 episodes (sad), the series took Wednesday on a whole new journey to a whole new realm where she meets some peculiar beings, makes unwanted friends, and faces a beasty murderer. The OG Wednesday Christina Ricci also makes an appearance as Wednesday’s dorm mother and teacher Miss Thornhill. All in all, the series is splendid and keeps you hooked till the very end.

Crash Landing on You (Romance, 2019)

You have heard of star-crossed lovers, right? Here we have cross-border lovers, Yoon Se-ri played by Son Ye-Jin, and Captain Ri Played by Hyun Bin. However, Crash Landing on You is not just a mere tale of love and good-looking Koreans, it’s a story that beautifully blends love with elements of friendship, family, and betrayal. When Yoon Se-ri gets caught in a tornado the last thing she expects isn’t to land in enemy territory, let alone fall in love with a man who is a rigid army captain. The two try to navigate this peculiar situation the universe threw at them all the while trying to figure out their feelings for one another.

Baby Reindeer (Psychological Thriller, 2024)

Baby Reindeer has managed to get a spot among the top-rated seasons on Netflix, thanks to its eerie and creepy storyline that haunts your minds for days to come. The plot revolves around Richard Gadd’s (writer of the play, Baby Reindeer) harrowing experience of being stalked by a middle-aged woman named Martha. Including graphic depictions of sexual assault, and mental health issues, the series explores the workings of the mind of a serial stalker. Never did one think that the letters “Sent from my iPhone” would evoke such tangible terror. If you are one who drives entertainment by watching psychological thrillers, and true crime, then Baby Reindeer is the best fit for you.

Squid Game (Survival, Thriller, 2021) – Season 2 Coming December 2024

Our COVID days involved lying on a couch in a state of depression with Netflix as our only companion as the other ones had to be kept at arm’s length. It was during those dark pandemic times that we came across the show Squid Game. Soon after its release, the show became number one among the seasons on Netflix, and rightfully so. At that time, we had our doubts, who wouldn’t, we thought how good could a show be? What’s all the hype about?

After watching just, a single episode we found out that Squid Game exceeded our expectations by 10-fold. The tense atmosphere, the drama, the survival instinct, the suspense, the shadow of death lurking in the corners, the palpable terror, not to mention the stellar acting is what made Squid Game one of our most liked seasons on Netflix, one that we like to revisit from time to time.

Bridgerton (Regency Romance, 2020)

NewsZemi thinks of Lady Whistledown as our mentor, being the gossip queen she is, she taught us a thing or two about twisting the story and making it spicy. That is why we bear a strong affinity for Bridgerton, a tale set in 1813 London, when women wore feathers on their heads, and men wore regal tuxes.

It would be safe to say that we burn for Bridgerton and have binge-watched all three of them, each bringing a new tale of romance, intrigue, and a little bit of mystery. The storylines of each season might be cliché and a bit predictable, but it’s a comfort watch that we can enjoy with a hot cup of tea on a rainy day.

Maid – (Drama, 2021)

Based on Stephanie Land’ memoire, Maid explores the story of a mother struggling to make a life for herself and her child. After escaping her abusive partner, with her child in tow, Alex (maid) goes on to take a job as a cleaning lady with a rackety firm. Viewers see Alex’s journey as she tries her survive the harsh realities of this world, sometimes without a roof over her head, and sometimes without any food in her belly. Her determination to do better for her daughter and herself is commendable and brings tears to the eyes of those who know what real struggle is.

Stranger Things (Sci-Fi, 2016)

It’s been almost 7 years since Stranger Things made its debut on Netflix, and ever since then, us Stranger Things fans have had to go through the unbearable gap years in which the Duffer Brothers try to turn 20-year-olds into teens. For Pete’s sake Millie Bobby Brown went from Brown to Bonjiovi and we still haven’t gotten the last season. At this rate, her kid might be attending the premiere of the last season. Our frustrated rant aside, Stranger Things is a stellar season that hooks you from the very first second.

Sweet Home (Horror, Thriller, 2020)

Another South Korean stellar, Sweet Home is a horror/thriller series based on a webcomic by Kim Carnby and Hwang Young-chan. The series looks at the zombie apocalypse in a very different light, replacing brain eating army of undead, with grotesque monsters, each unique in appearance, and qualities, mostly based on the deepest darkest desires they had when they were human. South Korean heartthrob Song Kang, plays the lead as Cha Hyun-su, delivering a performance so moving that it was difficult for us to discern if he was merely acting or not.
