Among the celebrity breakups that happened this year, the one that hit us like a pile of bricks was the divorce of Sutton Foster and Ted Griffin. When a couple crosses that 5-year mark one can’t help but put some faith in love, hoping that this couple might brave the tides of time and stick to the very end. But how wrong are human emotions, they lead even the wisest of men astray with hope.
On a beautiful autumn morning of October 22nd, something not-so-beautiful happened. Sutton Foster, Broadway legend and mother of a 7-year-old, filed for divorce from her husband of 10 years, screenwriter, Ted Griffin. The reason? Nobody knows. However, there is some hearsay, some believe that the divorce took place because the two-time Tony Winner Broadway queen got emotionally and romantically involved with Hugh Jackman, Mr. Wolverine.
We get the appeal, we do Ms. Foster, but leaving your husband of 10 years and the father of your child for a man you met 3 years ago? Tch! Love, a fickle, fickle thing.
Zach Bryan & Brianna LaPaglia – Infidelity, Gaslighting, and Blindsiding
Looks like October was the month of celebrity breakups and splits. Another celebrity breakup that happened in the month of Shocktober was of Zach Bryan & Brianna LaPaglia. The couple that boarded the love wagon in July 2023 decided to call it quits, stating a “difference in interest” ( from Zach’s side) as the cause of the split. But we all know the straw that broke the camel’s back.
It is said that Bryan was allegedly cheating on LaPaglia throughout their relationship. The singer/songwriter was apparently using dating apps, while he was still with Brianna. In a statement issued by Bryan on Instagram, it seemed like the split was amicable until Brianna popped out of the shadows claiming that she was not only blindsided throughout their relationship but also when it came to the breakup announcement.
On a Tuesday morning of October 22nd, fans and apparently, Brianna woke up to an Instagram story from Zach, claiming that he and LaPaglia have parted ways:
“Brianna and me [sic] have broken up with each other and I respect and love her with every ounce of my heart,” Wrote the 28-year-old singer.
Seemed nice enough right? Apparently, it was not. A few hours after Bryan published his statement, Brianna took to YouTube to tell her side of the story, and what a story it was. The teary-eyed podcaster can be seen in the video sitting on the bathroom floor, looking absolutely devastated.
Moments after she released her video statement, Brianna made another announcement on social media:
“Gonna hop off social media for a while and attempt to heal privately, when I’m ready I’ll be back and ready to talk,” she wrote. “I love you guys so much thank you for all of your kind words. Remember you are so loved and everything’s always gonna be okay.”
Jason Tartick and Kat Stickler – An Emotional Roller Coaster
We have been with content creator Kat Stickler and former Bachelorette contestant Jason Tartick for a very long time and have followed their journeys quite diligently. So, you can get the emotions that we felt when the two announced that they were dating. “Oh, what a picture-perfect couple” was what we first thought.
Jason Tartick and Kat Stickler are the kind of couple you see on the front page of a magazine, gorgeous, and charismatic. However, all good things must come to an, and so did Jason Tartick and Kat Stickler’s whirlwind relationship.
“I am sad to share that Kat and I are no longer together,” Tartick wrote in an Instagram statement. “It’s fair to say that I love hard with all my heart and fall fast. Sometimes in life, that works out and other times it doesn’t. This time it didn’t.”
“Kat has brought me so much happiness and light, she brought out parts of me I never knew existed,” he continued. “I will forever be grateful for her and of course, sweet and MK,” he wrote.
MK is Stickler’s 5-year-old daughter that she had with her ex-husband Mike Stickler. It was evident from the posts that Kate shared of Jason and MK that the two had formed a deep bond.
“This chapter closes amicably, and another opens,” he ended. “I’ll be rooting for her happiness and I am also rooting for mine.”
Kat also took to Instagram to share news of her split with Jason:
“I just wanted to tell you guys and it’s not love wasted,” Stickler said in her statement. “I feel like sometimes it’s so easy to think that when a relationship ends the love is wasted, but love is never wasted. So, that’s all I have to say.”
At this point, no one really knows why the couple of Instagram called it quits but there are speculations. Some say that Jason wasn’t willing to pack everything up and move to Tamp, where due to custody arrangements, Kat has to live. Others claim that the two went in too strong and too fast, not realizing that maybe it was the idea of each other that attracted them and not the person.
But we can’t say for sure what made the two love birds want to split, because, from the looks of it, the two seemed head over heels for one another. However, these things have a way of coming out, and we just have to wait a while to learn why love failed Jason and Kat.
Andrew Garfield and Kate Tomas – It Was Not in the Stars
Our favorite Spiderman, Andrew Garfield, parked romance rumors with self-claimed philosopher and spiritual reader Kate Tomas in the month of March. A statement soon followed the rumors that made their love official to the public. However, in October, the spiritual reader told the public that their romance was short-lived, and the two ended their relationship months ago. Upon being asked by a fan to send her love to Andrew, Kate responded with the following statement:
“We broke up months ago but I’m sure he will be happy to know that he is loved.”
There are a ton of speculations surrounding the couple’s split one of them being that Kate was bothered by the misogynistic reactions of the public to her relationship with Garfield.
“It’s frustrating that no matter how accomplished or impactful a woman is, it’s always going to be more interesting if they are in a relationship with a man,” she said. “I don’t want to sit under anybody’s shadow.”
Some even went on to claim that Kate broke up with Andrew for not being a political radical. Seems like even Disney princesses aren’t safe from the celebrity breakup pandemic of 2024. Earlier this month, Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr. aka DDG, the boyfriend of The Little Mermaid actress announced his split from her via Instagram. The statement went as follows:
“After much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways. This decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path forward for both of us. I cherish the time we’ve spent together and the love we’ve shared.
“Despite the changes in our relationship, our love for each other remains deep and true. We are still best friends and adore each other. Two weeks after DDG announced the split, Halle addressed the breakup by sharing a glimpse of her life as a single mother. The post showcased her working out alongside her 9-month-old son Halo, who she shares with DDG, a photo from the pool, and another that showed her drinking a glass of white wine in the studio.
