Hello NewsZemians, we bring fair tidings. It seems that the year 2025 is going to be a great one for Netflix users. This year we will be able to indulge in the most eagerly awaited Netflix series. Yes! You heard that right. From Stranger Things season 5 to Wednesday season 2, our screens will be graced by the Netflix series for which we have waited patiently for a long time. Plus, Netflix will also be releasing some new series on the platform. Thanks to Netflix our 2025 schedule is packed, is yours?
Most Anticipated Netflix Series of 2025
Wednesday Season 2 – Netflix Series 2025
Starting off with the most hit Netflix series of 2023, Wednesday. In 2023, Wednesday snagged a spot among the most-watched Netflix series of all time, an accolade well deserved. The stellar series was nominated for 12 Emmys and ended up winning four of them. So, our expectations for season 2 are through the roof.
You can guess how well received this Netflix series was as only a few months after its release, Netflix announced its renewal with a short clip and since then we have been watching it to satiate our hunger for season 2. We are humans, try to understand us, waiting is difficult *insert crying face emoji*.
Show runners of the Netflix series expressed their excitement for the upcoming season 2, hinting that it will be even more epic than its predecessor:
“It’s been incredible to create a show that’s connected with people across the world,” Millar and Gough said in January. “We’re thrilled to continue Wednesday’s torturous journey into Season 2. We can’t wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the kooky spooky world of Nevermore. Just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first.”
Stranger Things Season 5
Ever since the year 2016, Netflix has kept us on a hook by airing a show that made all our sci-fi dreams come true. We remember staying up all night to watch the first season, so engrossed in the enthralling Netflix series that sleep evaded us. Although the next day we were flaunting bags under our eyes, it was totally worth it.
Ever since that year, we have been in a constant state of waiting for the next season to air. After every 2 years or so, Netflix releases a few episodes of the show, further enhancing our growing curiosity and placing us in wait mode for two more years. Not good Netflix, not good. You are definitely on Santa’s naughty list.
Anyhoo, Netflix did announce at the beginning of 2024 that the show has begun shooting, about time, and will grace our screens sometime in 2025. Season 5 is going to be the last one in the franchise and honestly, we are pretty sad about it.
But, we do have some news that might cheer you up, there is a rumor that Netflix is gearing up to bring us, an animated Stranger Things series. So, we are pretty psyched about the new year so far.
Squid Game Season 3
Is that an earthquake? No, it’s just us jumping up and down with excitement. We just saw the trailer of Squid Game season 2, which will air on the 26th of December, and also got the news that we will be seeing the third and final season of the epic Netflix series in 2025. Therefore, this news deserves a jump or two. Just like Stranger Things, Netflix took its sweet time with this epic Korean series.
Aired in 2021, Squid Game quickly became one of the most-watched Netflix series. After just a tumultuous ending of season 1, we couldn’t contain our excitement for season 2. But for 2 whole years, all we heard from Netflix’s side about Squid Game season 2 was crickets. Anyway, Netflix finally redeemed itself by announcing the air date of season 2 and letting the fans know that season 3 will be airing in 2025, so no more wait.
The series writer, director, and executed produced Hwang Dong-hyuk also confirmed the news by penning an emotional letter to the fans of the Netflix series:
“I am beyond excited to be writing this letter to announce the date for Season 2 and share the news of Season 3, the final season,” he wrote. “The fierce clash between [Gi-hun and Front Man’s] two worlds will continue into the series finale with Season 3, which will be brought to you next year.”
The Witcher Season 4
So, a while ago we were shattered by the news that Henry Cavill will not be playing Gerald of Rivera in the new season of Witcher and will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth. When the news broke, speculations ran wild, with many questions about why Henry quit his passion project. Some speculate that the reason for Henry’s leaving is because the star struggled to find a “balance between the showrunners’ vision and my love for the books,” In an interview with the Philippine Star, Henry stated:
“The things that I pushed for, it was not necessarily just more dialogue. It was bringing a more book-accurate Geralt to the screen. Because as I’m sure you know in the books, Geralt is an amateur philosopher,” he said. “He’s an intellectual. He’s wise and thoughtful. Yes, he’s at times morose, morbid, and snarky. But it’s important for me to have the character be three-dimensional.”
This interview was conducted in the year 2021 when the second season of The Witcher was released. If our guess is right, Henry had it with showrunners not following the books and decided not to renew his contract. However, he had only the best of words to say to his successor, Liam:
“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4,”
“In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.”
“Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.”
Alice in Borderland Season 3
In the year of the pandemic, when we were all confined to our homes, bored and depressed out of our minds, Netflix saved the day, or year, by releasing an eccentric thriller drama, Alice in Borderland. At times the season has been compared with Squig Game, as both feature intense thrilling games, however, they are far from being similar. The series starts with a teenager, Arisu, and his friends who are transported to an empty Tokyo, with the landmarks of the city transformed into games.
Each character in the season represents a character from Alice in Wonderland but in a more twisted, dystopian world. The games revolve around one’s will to survive and what chances they are willing to take to keep breathing. Did you get the chills? Of course, you did, we are amazing writers *inserts witty emoji*.
We have watched both of the seasons of Alice in Borderland and are waiting desperately for its new season to air. No one knows for sure which direction Season 3 will take, but we know one thing for sure, it is going to be mind-bogglingly thrilling.
